1 Thessalonians 2:2
2: You know how badly we had been treated at Philippi just before we came to you and how much we suffered there. Yet our God gave us the courage to declare his Good News to you boldly, even though we were surrounded by many who opposed us.
Acts 16:22
- A mob quickly formed against Paul and Silas, and the city officials ordered them stripped and beaten with wooden rods.
- They were severely beaten, and then they were thrown into prison. The jailer was ordered to make sure they didn't escape.
- So he took no chances but put them into the inner dungeon and clamped their feet in the stocks.
Acts 4:13
- The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men who had had no special training. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus.
2 Timothy 1:12
- And that is why I am suffering here in prison. But I am not ashamed of it, for I know the one in whom I trust, and I am sure that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until the day of his return.
Acts 17:2

- But the Jewish leaders were jealous, so they gathered some worthless fellows from the streets to form a mob and start a riot. They attacked the home of Jason, searching for Paul and Silas so they could drag them out to the crowd.
- Not finding them there, they dragged out Jason and some of the other believers instead and took them before the city council. "Paul and Silas have turned the rest of the world upside down, and now they are here disturbing our city," they shouted.
Hebrews 12:2
- We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from start to finish. He was willing to die a shameful death on the cross because of the joy he knew would be his afterward. Now he is seated in the place of highest honor beside God's throne in heaven.
- Think about all he endured when sinful people did such terrible things to him, so that you don't become weary and give up.
1 Peter 2:14
- and the officials he has appointed. For the king has sent them to punish all who do wrong and to honor those who do right.
- It is God's will that your good lives should silence those who make foolish accusations against you.
